Dosage

Postinor-2 contains two tablets (levonorgestrel 0.75mg each). Take the first tablet as soon as possible within 72 hours of unprotected sex, and the second tablet 12 hours later. Taken earlier, it works better. If you vomit within 3 hours of a tablet, it may not be absorbed, so message a Jane doctor.

Good to know

• For emergencies only, not a regular contraceptive, and it does not work as well as ongoing methods.
• It will not end an existing pregnancy, and it does not protect against STIs.
• Common, short-lived effects: nausea, tiredness, headache, breast tenderness, and lighter or heavier bleeding. Your next period may come a few days early or late.
• If your period is more than 5 to 7 days late, take a pregnancy test.
• Speak to a doctor first if you have severe liver disease or a condition that affects how you absorb food.
