Dosage

One tablet every day, taken at roughly the same time. With a 28-day pack, take the pills in order and start your next pack straight after the last one, with no break. With a 21-day pack, take one daily for 21 days, then a 7-day break before the next pack. If you miss a pill, follow the pack instructions and use condoms as backup for 7 days.

Good to know

• It does not protect against STIs.
• Settling-in effects in the first few months can include nausea, headache, breast tenderness, spotting between periods, and mood changes.
• Blood clots are a rare but serious risk. Seek urgent care for severe calf pain or swelling, chest pain, sudden breathlessness, or a sudden severe headache.
• It may not be right for you if you smoke and are over 35, have had blood clots, have migraine with aura, high blood pressure, or a history of breast cancer, so a doctor should check first.
